RES 5 is the CMFAS rules and ethics paper for financial advisory representatives, and it replaced the old M5 exam in 2024. It uses two-part scoring: you must pass Part I (Rules and Regulations) at 75% and Part II (Ethics and Skills) at 80% in the same sitting.

Two-part scoring is the main trap
You must pass Part I at 75% and Part II at 80% in one sitting. A high overall score does not matter if you fall short on a single part, and generic mock papers report only one score.

While it covers similar topics, RES 5 is significantly harder due to the two-part scoring system (75% for Part I, 80% for Part II) and a much heavier emphasis on ethics and situational questions.
